Go off grid on a west coast wildlife tour around one of the few communities still (relatively) untouched by commercialization - Port Renfrew, British Columbia. Known worldwide for its whale watching and marine wildlife viewing opportunities, the small village of Port Renfrew is perfectly placed for eco-tourism, at the junction of the famous West Coast and Juan de Fuca Trails. Led by an experienced skipper who is certified in marine biology, you will spend a few hours exploring the spectacular natural environment and iconic landmarks such as the lighthouse at Carmanah, learning about the history and geography of the region while watching for whales, sea lions, and marine birds.
Keep your eyes peeled for telltale blows off in the distance and black bears, deer, bald eagles and other wildlife playing hide and seek in the majestic old growth forests nearby. Routes may vary depending on whale sightings and weather. When whale sighting reports come in, we typically alter course towards whales within range of the boat. Round trip distance is usually 50 to 80 kms.
Full length cruiser suits will be provided for protection from ocean spray and cool air on the zodiac boat.
